Comment: This building is the Catedral Metropolitana da Nossa Senhora Aparecida (1970). Designed by Óscar Niemeyer (born 1907), it is a concrete-framed hyperboloid structure, which is achieved by revolving a hyperbola around the structure's semi-minor axis. As you will see when we go inside, between each of the concrete ribs is the glass roof that seems to be reaching up to the sky (or, heaven). The Cathedral is circular and has 70 meters in diameter. The hyperboloid structure has 16 identically assembled concrete columns. Note that the architectural style is quintessentially modern.
