Comments: The most iconic architectural complex in Brasília, for this commentator/visitor, is the complex of the Congresso Nacional. The style is quintessentially modern as designed by Oscar Niemeyer. Here we see this complex's twin towers and two offset domes. Brazil's National Congress is bicameral: Senate of Brazil and the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil. The convex semi-sphere on the left is where the Senate is housed, and the concave one to the right is where the Chamber of Deputies meets. The mediating twin towers house congressional offices.
Humanities question: These buildings for Brazil's Congresso Nacional were designed fully within the aesthetic of modern 20th century Latin American and/or world architecture. (A) Do you think they are still appropriate for the core government complex of a major world power in the 21st century?
