Comment: One of the many amazing things about Amazonia that I discovered when I was there is that it is more like thousands of islands surrounded by water (i.e., rivers). For example, here we are taking this waterway from the Rio Negro over to the Rio Solimões, thence down the Solimões to the junction of these two rivers, which, together, form the beginning of the Amazon proper (according to Brazilian geographical nomenclature).
