Comments: This polychrome figure is sculpted as a decorative support communicating the notion that he/it is holding up the entire column above it. Strength, boldness, fortitude, male beauty positively leap from this figure, which is meant to be an emblem of the bold strength of the faith and beliefs of the community of (Catholic Brazilian) believers who uphold the Church. The style is pure Brazilian baroque, which lasts longer in the interior of Brazil where Ouro Preto is located.
