Montezuma II / Moctezuma II / Motecuhzoma II

Source: WTL Latin American digital archives.
Comments: On the left is a twentieth-century painting of Montezuma that uses elements from the historical record to imagine a realistic but also romanticized representation of this next-to-last emperor of the Aztecs. On the right is an image from the fifteen-century Codex Florentino that depicts "Motecçuma" (see the Spanish writing on the figure's front): Note the drawing's fusion of Spanish culture with Aztec/Náhuatl drawing style.
