Teotihuacan (15)

Notes: In the compound that surrounds the Quetzalcóatl temple, there are a number of remains of Aztec palaces. This courtyard is an example of such a palace. Notice especially the solid construction (the Aztecs were superior engineers), the painted surfaces, and the incised decorative designs on all the columns. The latter elements are examples of horror vacui among pre-Columbian peoples.
