Comments: Figuereido studied in the Brazilian Academia Imperial de Belas Artes. He won many grand prizes for his paintings. From 1859 to 1870 he studied art in Paris. This painting demonstrates the obvious depiction of elegantly posed symbols as in the manner of the French symbolist school and also of the budding modernista movement in Latin America.
